About Citrus Heights, Sacramento County

Located in the northern region of Sacramento County, California, Citrus Heights is a vibrant city steeped in rich history with a range of landmarks and activities to explore. Relatively young in terms of cityhood, it achieved its status only in 1997 but its history dates back to the late 1800s when it was a major center for citrus production; hence, the name. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Sylvan Cemetery is a testament to the city’s historic prominence, whereas Rusch Park, another landmark, serves as a gathering place for locals and visitors alike. For those seeking retail therapy, Sunrise Mall and the Marketplace at Birdcage offer a diverse and lovely shopping experience. Nature enthusiasts appreciate the city’s numerous parks, and their extensive trail systems provide an idyllic setting for walking, biking, and nature-watching. The city’s Stock Ranch Nature Preserve is a local gem enjoyed by many, encompassing 47 acres of natural habitats, trails, and learning landscapes.
